Preparing the Young Basketball Athlete
Coach Christopher Heery began coaching basketball for SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Youth Organization in 1984, which included girls from grades four through eight. In 1991, Coach Heery became the JV coach for Northwestern Lehigh High School (NWLHS). While coaching for Northwestern, he became the basketball director of the Northwestern Youth Athletic Association (NYAA). Since the start of his eight years of coaching the Tigers of Northwestern, he realized that all great High School Programs start with great youth programs. As the Basketball NYAA director, he began programs to educate novice coaches in the art of coaching successfully and helped to take an initially loosing program to a winning program at NWLHS. In 1999, he was appointed the head basketball coach for Cedar Crest College. In 2005, he took an assistant coaching position at Muhlenberg College in the Women's program where he helped the team reach the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. He has been working various camps for the past 15 years including the Tiger camp, Coach Wootten's basketball camp, Greyhound basketball camp and Hank Sliders' shooting camp.
